Apr 11, 2018The Seguin Main Street Program is hosting the 2018 Moonlight and Roses from 7 to 9 p.m. in Walnut Springs Park, 317 W. Court St., on Friday.“Moonlight and Roses is a free event in the Walnut Springs Memorial Garden located at Walnut Springs Park,” Main Street Program director Kyle Kramm said. “We’ll have live music from the Dirty River Dixie Band and free food. Then we’ll also have a presentation of our 2017 Downtown Awards.”The Dirty River Dixie BSand is coming back to its roots to play some jazz tunes, while several restaurants such as Davila’s BBQ, Dixie Grill, JJ’s Cafe, and Amy’s and Cathy’s Takeout are providing food, Kramm said.“Dirty River Dixie Band started when they were at TLU,” he said. “They first played publicly in Central Park and have now kind of grown and become quite popular. They travel all over South Texas performing. We still like to have them come back and they feel a close connection to Seguin, being this is where they got their start.”Seven awards will be given this year to various individuals and businesses that made an impact in the downtown district in 2017, Kramm said.“We have some that we give every year such as ‘Downtowner of the Year,’ which is given to the business or individual that has had the biggest impact in downtown over the last year,” he said. “We also do a ‘Volunteer of the Year.’ We also have some special ones. This year we’ll give a ‘Dynamic Downtown Business’ award and a ‘Cornerstone Business’ award and that’s going to be a new one for us to offer. It’s going to a business that has been a staple of the downtown business for a long time. We’ll also have a beautician award. Those are some of the awards for this year.”Additionally, floral arrangements donated by area florists are set to be raffled away, Kramm said.Guests are encouraged to bring their own beverages and lawn chairs for the event, he said.“Just come enjoy some live music and enjoy some of the roses that are blooming in Walnut Spring Park,” Kramm said. For more informat...
